This December: Deluxe Collection

Listening notes

Released in 2020, Lydia's This December: Deluxe Collection is a self-released box set issued with no catalog number under the band's own imprint. The release spans vinyl across two discrete components, each presenting a distinct version of the band's This December material.

The first component, subtitled This December It's One More And I'm Free, is a ten-track sequence spread across two sides. Side A opens with "Smile You've Won" at 3:34 and continues through "It's In Your Blood" (5:06), "A Story For Supper" (7:08), "Always Move Fast" (3:30), and "Fools And Luxury" (5:04). Side B carries "Laugh Before You Grin" (5:03), "...When The Ghosts Make Love Again" (3:04), "Her And Haley" (5:58), "A Camera Lens And Careful Days" (5:21), and "December" (5:36), bringing the component's total runtime to just under fifty minutes.

The second component, subtitled This December (A Favorite Of My Dreams), presents nine of the same song titles across its two sides, though with notably shorter individual track durations throughout. "Smile You've Won," for instance, runs 3:02 here compared to 3:34 on the first component, and "A Story For Supper" clocks in at 5:33 against the earlier 7:08. "...When The Ghosts Make Love Again" does not appear on this component. The cumulative runtime of this second pressing is considerably shorter than its counterpart.

The release is catalogued under the genres emo, indie rock, and rock. As a self-released box set without a formal catalog number, it sits outside the band's conventional label discography.
