Mack Stevens With Ed Gein String Band, The / Bloodshot Bill
The Vinyl Wastelands / The Creature From The Sky

Listening notes

Released in 2016 on Trailer-Park Records, this split seven-inch pairs Mack Stevens With Ed Gein String Band on the A-side with Bloodshot Bill on the B-side. The catalog number is 45-TP-66601.

Mack Stevens With Ed Gein String Band contributes "The Vinyl Wastelands" to the A-side, while Bloodshot Bill occupies the flip with "The Creature From The Sky." The release falls across several genre classifications, including country, rock, and rockabilly, with the broader folk, world, and country designation also applied. That combination of tags situates the record within a loosely defined underground that draws on American roots traditions while operating at some remove from mainstream country and rock audiences.

The split format itself has a long practical history as a vehicle for acts that share aesthetic common ground, allowing each contributor a single track without the commitment of a full collaborative project. Whether that shared ground here extends beyond the genre tags on record is not something the available information can confirm.

Trailer-Park Records, whose name carries its own obvious suggestion of the territory these acts are working in, issued the release under the catalog designation 45-TP-66601, the prefix indicating the standard 45 RPM single configuration. Track durations are not documented in the available data.

Both Mack Stevens With Ed Gein String Band and Bloodshot Bill are names that carry a certain deliberate provocation in their framing, though what can be said about either act beyond their participation in this release is outside the scope of what the verified information here supports.
