Maine, The
XOXO: From Love & Anxiety In Real Time

Listening notes

Released in 2021 on the band's own 8123 label, XOXO: From Love & Anxiety In Real Time is a ten-track vinyl LP from The Maine. The record carries catalog number 842812147685 and sits across the alternative rock, indie rock, pop rock, and rock genres.

The album is sequenced across two sides of five tracks each. Side A opens with "Sticky" at 2:58 and moves through "Lips" (2:38), "Love In Real Time" (1:50), "High Forever" (3:00), and "April 7th" (3:16). The brevity of several Side A cuts is notable on paper, with "Love In Real Time" running under two minutes, suggesting a sequence built more on momentum than extended arrangement. Side B opens with "If Your Light Goes Out" (2:57) and continues through "Pretender" (3:05) and "Dirty, Pretty, Beautiful" (3:52) before closing out with the album's two longest tracks: "Anxiety In Real Time" at 4:13 and "Face Towards The Sun" at 4:34. The title itself pairs two of these closing track names — "Love In Real Time" from Side A and "Anxiety In Real Time" from Side B — suggesting a structural symmetry that bookends the record thematically, though what that symmetry means in practice is for the listener to determine.

The total runtime across all ten tracks comes to approximately 32 minutes and 21 seconds, placing it well within standard single-LP territory.

The 8123 label, which The Maine operate independently, is relevant context for collectors: releases on artist-owned imprints can follow release schedules and pressing decisions distinct from major label timelines, though no specific pressing details are confirmed here.
