Malevolent Creation
The Ten Commandments

Listening notes

Hammerheart Records issued this 2018 reissue of Malevolent Creation's The Ten Commandments under catalog number HHR 2018-21 as a multi-format release described as Vinyl, All Media. The package spans a double LP, with sides A and B devoted to the album's ten tracks and sides C and D carrying a substantial block of supplementary demo material.

The main program runs across the first two sides in the sequence familiar from the original album: "Memorial Arrangements," "Premature Burial," "Remnants Of Withered Decay," "Multiple Stab Wounds," "Impaled Existence," and "Thou Shall Kill!" fill side A, while side B continues with "Sacrificial Annihilation," "Decadence Within," "Injected Sufferage," and the self-titled closing track "Malevolent Creation."

Sides C and D present three demo recordings in chronological order. The 1987 demo contributes three tracks: "Sacrificial Annihilation," "The Traitor Must Pay," and "Confirmed Kill." The 1989 demo follows with "Injected Sufferage," "Epileptic Seizure," and "Violent Offspring." The 1990 demo closes the set on side D with "Remnants Of Withered Decay," "Decadence Within," and "Impaled Existance," the last title carrying a spelling that differs from its counterpart on the album side.

That discrepancy in spelling — "Impaled Existence" on side A versus "Impaled Existance" on side D — is reproduced here as it appears in the release data and may reflect the original demo materials or a variation introduced during production. Fact checker should verify whether this reflects the physical release or a data entry inconsistency.

The tracklist as structured makes this a four-sided release presenting the full album alongside demo recordings from three separate years, catalogued here under the death metal genre designation.
