Mark Knopfler
Tracker

Listening notes

Mark Knopfler's Tracker was released in 2015 on British Grove Records under catalog number 4716982. The vinyl edition spreads eleven tracks across four sides, placing it in the double-album format. British Grove Records is Knopfler's own label, and the release carries genres catalogued as Folk, World, & Country and Rock.

The sequencing gives each side a reasonable amount of running time. Side A opens with "Laughs And Jokes And Drinks And Smokes" at six minutes and thirty-nine seconds, followed by "Basil" at five minutes and forty-four seconds, and closes with "River Towns" at six minutes and sixteen seconds. Side B carries "Skydiver" at four minutes and thirty-eight seconds, "Mighty Man" at five minutes and fifty-five seconds, and "Broken Bones" at five minutes and thirty seconds. Side C holds "Long Cool Girl" at five minutes and five seconds, "Lights Of Taormina" at six minutes and nine seconds, and "Silver Eagle" at five minutes and one second. Side D brings the record to a close with "Beryl" at three minutes and ten seconds and "Wherever I Go" at six minutes and twenty-four seconds.

With only one track on the album falling under five minutes on either of the first three sides, the sequencing leans consistently toward longer pieces. Side D is the exception, carrying just two tracks and a noticeably shorter combined running time than the preceding sides.

The total runtime across all eleven tracks runs to approximately sixty-two minutes based on the listed durations, which is a practical consideration when assessing the vinyl format. Collectors and listeners approaching this release should confirm specific pressing details, matrix information, and any variant editions independently, as those details are not represented in the data available here.
