Mayhem
Deathcrush

Listening notes

Mayhem's Deathcrush is a black metal release from the Norwegian band that has maintained a persistent presence in the genre's catalogue. This 2003 pressing, issued by Vinyl Maniacs under catalog number VM001, brings the material to vinyl format, spreading seven tracks across two sides.

The A-side opens with "Silvester Anfang" before moving into the title track "Deathcrush" and then "Chainsaw Gutsfuck." The B-side carries four tracks: "Witching Hour," "Necrolust," "(Weird) Manheim," and "Pure Fucking Armageddon." The sequencing places three tracks on the first side and four on the second, a layout that is worth noting for collectors assessing the physical object.

Vinyl Maniacs assigned this release the catalog number VM001, which positions it as the first entry in their catalog numbering sequence. Whether this reflects the label's founding release or simply a numbering convention is a detail a prospective buyer may wish to investigate independently before drawing conclusions about the label's history or significance.

The release is catalogued under both black metal and rock as genre designations, the latter being a broad classification that likely reflects database taxonomy rather than a meaningful descriptor of the music's character. Black metal is the genre most directly associated with Mayhem and the material on this record.

Track durations are not confirmed in the available data for this pressing, which is a practical gap for anyone researching the release in detail. Those seeking precise timings should consult additional verified sources before relying on any figures found elsewhere.
