Moonspell
Hermitage

Listening notes

Moonspell's Hermitage arrived on vinyl in 2021 through Napalm Records, catalogued as NPR998VINYL. The Portuguese gothic metal band's release spans a double LP format, with its eleven tracks distributed across four sides.

The tracklist opens on Side A with "The Greater Good," followed by "Common Prayers," "All Or Nothing," and the title track "Hermitage." Side B carries "Entitlement," "Solitarian," and "The Hermit Saints." The program continues onto Side C with "Apophthegmata," "Without Rule," and "City Quitter (Outro)," before concluding on Side D with a single closing track, "Darkness In Paradise."

Several details about the tracklist are worth noting for collectors and cataloguers. The parenthetical designation of "City Quitter" as an outro suggests it functions as a transitional or closing piece within the album's sequencing, though it occupies the penultimate position rather than the final one, with "Darkness In Paradise" following on a dedicated fourth side. The title "Apophthegmata" references a category of early Christian monastic writings, and taken alongside other track titles such as "Solitarian," "The Hermit Saints," and the album title itself, a thematic thread oriented around withdrawal, solitude, and contemplative tradition is at least nominally present across the tracklist. Whether and how these themes are developed musically falls outside what the available catalog data can confirm.

Napalm Records has issued this under the genres gothic metal and rock. Track durations are not available in the current catalog entry and should be verified before publication. Any additional details regarding pressing variants, personnel, or liner note contents would require independent confirmation from the physical release.
