Mutter
Mutter Vinyl Box

Listening notes

Released in 2019 on Die Eigene Gesellschaft, the Mutter Vinyl Box is a box set collecting material from the German-language act Mutter across two records and four sides. The release sits within the genres of lo-fi, post-punk, and rock, and carries no catalog number.

The first record opens with an untitled piece bearing the full phrase "Ich Schäme Mich Gedanken Zu Haben Die Andere Menschen In Ihrer Würde Verletzen" before moving into the sequenced A-side, which runs through seven tracks: "Einleitung," "Was," "Augen," "Es Juckt," "Hören," "Langeweile," and "XXX." The B-side follows with four tracks — "Alt Und Schwul," "Recht," "Schweineknie," and "Ohne Diese Dinge Leben."

The second record is divided into two distinct sections. The C-side is labeled "Musik Von Samplern Und Demos" and draws specifically from samplers, presenting five tracks with listed durations: "Together" at 1:08, "Eine Eigene Gesellschaft Mit Eigener Moral" at 2:12, "Du Bist Nicht Mein Bruder" at 2:41, "Du" at 4:24, and "Hassen" at 7:54. The D-side, subtitled "Musik Von Demos," collects four demo recordings — "Es Ist Dein Problem" at 4:48, "Du Veränderst Die Welt" at 5:15, "Die Kinder Gehen Tot" at 5:57, and "Die Die Im Dreck Krepieren" at 5:14 — the only side on which every track carries a running time exceeding four minutes.

The organizational logic of the set, separating sampler contributions from demo material and placing them on a dedicated second record, gives the box set a documentary character. Beyond the information confirmed here, further details regarding personnel, edition size, and supplementary contents remain unverified.
