Nargaroth
Era Of Threnody

Listening notes

Nargaroth's Era Of Threnody arrived on vinyl in 2017 through Inter Arma Productions, carrying catalog number IAP011. The release spreads across four sides, each named for a river of the Greek underworld: Acheron, Lethe, Styx, and Phlegethon. That structural choice gives the album a conceptual frame that is visible in the tracklist before a single note is heard.

Side Acheron opens with "Dawn Of Epiphany," followed by "Whither Goest Thou" and "Conjuction Underneath The Alpha Wheel." Side Lethe carries four tracks, among them "...As Orphans Drifting In A Desert Night," "The Agony Of A Dying Phoenix," "Epicedium To A Broken Dream," and a cover, or at minimum a title shared with, Charles Bukowski's 1977 poetry collection: "Love Is A Dog From Hell." Side Styx holds the title track alongside "TXFO" and "My Eternal Grief, Anguish Neverending." The fourth side, Phlegethon, is given over entirely to a bonus track: "Era Of Threnody (Duet With Audrey S.)," a variation on the title track featuring an uncredited collaborator identified only by that name.

The listed genres — acoustic, black metal, heavy metal, and rock — suggest a release that does not sit neatly within the black metal category alone, though Nargaroth is primarily associated with that genre. The track count reaches eleven proper positions across the four sides.

Inter Arma Productions issued this under catalog number IAP011, placing it within an identifiable sequence in that label's output. Track durations are not documented in available catalog data, so the total runtime of this pressing remains unconfirmed.
