Neutral Milk Hotel
NMH Vinyl Box Set

Listening notes

Released in 2015 on NMH Records (catalog number NMH001), the NMH Vinyl Box Set brings together material from Neutral Milk Hotel across five vinyl records in a single package. The set spans genres listed as Folk Rock, Indie Rock, Psychedelic Rock, and Rock.

The box set's contents are substantial and varied. It includes the complete album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, presented across sides A and B, with tracks running from the two-minute opening of "The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One" through to "Two-Headed Boy Pt. Two" at 5:18. The full album On Avery Island follows across sides C and D, its twelve tracks ranging from the brief "A Baby for Pree" at 1:21 to the nearly five-minute "Naomi."

Beyond those two albums, the set incorporates additional material spread across sides E through N. Ferris Wheel on Fire occupies sides E and F, collecting eight tracks including "Oh Sister," the title track, and "My Dream Girl Don't Exist." The Everything Is section fills sides G and H with seven tracks, closing on the five-minute "Aunt Eggma Blow Torch." Two further sides are given to Little Birds, presenting two versions described as unfinished — "Unfinished Version One" at 6:02 and "Unfinished Version Two" at 4:36. The final four sides each contain a single track: alternate versions of "You've Passed," "Where You'll Find Me Now," "Holland, 1945," and "Engine," the latter presented individually on sides K through N.

In total the set runs across sides A through N, representing a comprehensive collection of Neutral Milk Hotel recordings issued under the band's own NMH Records imprint.
