Nicolai Dunger's The Vinyl Trilogy, released in 2004 on Plain Recordings (catalog number PLAIN 109), is a substantial collection spanning three LPs and six sides. Falling across the genres of acoustic, blues rock, folk rock, and rock, the release brings together material grouped under three distinct internal titles: Blind Blemished Blues, A Dress Book, and Sweat Her Kiss.

The first of the three, Blind Blemished Blues, occupies sides A and B. Its eight tracks range considerably in length, from the brief "Tribute To Robert Wyatt" at one minute and thirty-four seconds to the sprawling "Talking Blues," which runs sixteen minutes and thirty-two seconds and closes out side B. "Starblues And A Wild Evening," at eight minutes and seven seconds, is another notably extended piece on this first record.

The second component, A Dress Book, fills sides C and D with ten tracks whose titles are drawn largely from street addresses and place names, including locations in Sweden, Australia, and Israel. "Holmträskvägen" is the longest among them at seven minutes and one second.

Sweat Her Kiss, occupying sides E and F, rounds out the set with ten further tracks. The sequence opens with a brief prelude under one minute and twenty seconds before moving through material that includes "Israeli Days" at eight minutes and fifteen seconds, one of the longer pieces across the full collection. The closing track, "The Sun Will Always Shine...," brings the trilogy to an end at just over four minutes.
