Nicu Alifantis
Vinyl Collection

Listening notes

Released in 2007 on Intercont Music (catalog number IMCD 1293), Nicu Alifantis's Vinyl Collection is a four-disc CD box set catalogued under the genres of folk rock and rock. The title itself signals the release's archival intent: to gather material from across Alifantis's recorded output into a single, structured package.

The set is organized across its four discs in a way that reflects distinct phases or projects. Disc one draws from several sources, including material associated with a collaboration with Florian Pittiș, with tracks grouped under headings that correspond to earlier album titles such as Cântec De Noapte, După Melci, and Decembre. Disc two continues in a similar fashion, pulling from releases including Nicu Alifantis and Piața Romană Nr. 9. Disc three covers the albums Risipitorul De Iubire and Ia Toți Baladist, the latter notable for its concentration of tracks carrying the word "baladă" in their titles, suggesting a thematic or stylistic grouping within that original release.

Disc four departs from the album-by-album structure. It is divided into two sections: one labeled Piese Prezente Pe Compilații, collecting ten tracks that had previously appeared on compilation releases, and one labeled Piese Needitate, comprising nine tracks described as previously unreleased. This fourth disc gives the box set a degree of documentary interest beyond straightforward reissue, as it brings together material not previously available on a single Alifantis studio album.

In total, the set spans approximately eighty-seven listed track positions across the four discs. Track durations are not documented in the available data.
