Serato Control Vinyl - The Yok & Sheryo - 'Endless Summer' Picture Disc

Listening notes

Released in 2014 on Serato Pressings, the Serato Control Vinyl featuring artwork by The Yok & Sheryo and titled "Endless Summer" carries the catalog number Cv2.5. It is a picture disc format release classified under the Non-Music genre, which accurately reflects its functional rather than musical purpose.

The release consists of four sides, each carrying the Serato Control Tone Cv2.5. Sides A and C run for ten minutes apiece, while Sides B and D each extend to fifteen minutes, giving the release a total runtime of fifty minutes across what is a double-disc configuration implied by the four-sided layout.

Serato control vinyl is a category of product designed for use with Serato DJ software, functioning as timecode media rather than conventional recorded music. The tones pressed onto each side serve as reference signals read by compatible audio interfaces to enable software-based playback control. This release falls within that established product line from Serato Pressings, the label associated with these functional releases.

The "Endless Summer" designation and the involvement of artists The Yok & Sheryo indicate that this pressing belongs to a series in which Serato Pressings collaborated with visual artists to produce picture disc editions of their control vinyl. The picture disc format in this context applies the visual artwork directly to the disc surface.
