Serato Dia de los Muertos 'Mexico' Control Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2017 on Serato Pressings, the Serato Dia de los Muertos 'Mexico' Control Vinyl (catalog number SCV-PS-MEX-12) is a double LP format release classified under the Non-Music and Technical genres. It carries no credited artist, reflecting its functional rather than musical purpose as a piece of DJ control software hardware.

The release contains four sides. Sides A and C each carry a pressing of the Control Signal CV02.5 with a duration of ten minutes, while Sides B and D each carry the same Control Signal CV02.5 at fifteen minutes. The total combined playback time across all four sides amounts to fifty minutes of control signal content.

The record falls within Serato's line of control vinyl products, which are designed for use with the company's digital vinyl system software. Control vinyl of this type functions as a timecode source, allowing DJ software to interpret the signal from a turntable and translate physical playback into digital control. The Dia de los Muertos designation and the 'Mexico' subtitle indicate this pressing is part of a themed or regional series within Serato's catalog, though the specific context of that designation is not elaborated upon by the available data.

With four sides and differing track durations between paired sides, the release follows a structure common to double LP control vinyl configurations intended to offer DJs varying lengths of continuous timecode signal depending on their needs during a performance or session.
