Serato Official Control Vinyl - Performance Series

Listening notes

Released in 2019 on Serato Pressings, the Serato Official Control Vinyl — Performance Series (catalog number 7CV02.5) is a functional vinyl product designed for use with Serato DJ software rather than as a conventional listening record. It is catalogued under the genres Hip Hop, Non-Music, Technical, and Turntablism, a combination that accurately reflects its position at the intersection of DJ culture and specialized hardware.

The record contains two distinct sides. Side A carries "Serato Control Tone Cv2.5," running four minutes in duration, while Side B carries "Serato Control Tone CV02.5," running five minutes. The tracklist data in the source record lists each side twice, which may reflect a data entry duplication and is noted here for the fact checker's attention.

Control vinyl of this type functions by encoding a timecode signal that compatible software reads from a standard turntable, allowing a DJ to manipulate digital audio files using the physical motion of the record. The product exists within a category of releases that straddle the line between audio equipment and recorded media, which accounts for its Non-Music and Technical genre designations alongside Hip Hop and Turntablism — fields in which this workflow has seen significant adoption.

Beyond the catalog number, year, label, format, and tracklist details confirmed above, no additional information about this specific pressing — including personnel, pressing plant, regional availability, or accompanying documentation — has been verified for this draft. Any such details should be sourced and confirmed before publication. The tracklist duration discrepancy flagged above should also be resolved with the primary source before this entry goes live.
