Vinyl Villians

Listening notes

Released in 1979 on The Impossible Recordworks (catalog number IMP 1-104), Vinyl Villians is a vinyl record by The Police. The release carries genres listed as Pop, Pop Rock, and Rock.

The record presents eight tracks split across two sides. Side A opens with "Losing You," followed by "So Lonely," "Fall Out," and "Hole In My Life." Side B leads with "Truth Hits Everybody," then moves through "Peanuts," "Roxanne," and closes with "Next To You."

Several of the titles on this release will be recognizable to collectors already acquainted with The Police's catalog. "Roxanne," "So Lonely," "Fall Out," "Next To You," "Hole In My Life," "Truth Hits Everybody," and "Peanuts" all appeared on the band's 1978 debut album Outlandos d'Amour, placing this release in close proximity to that period of the group's output. "Fall Out" was also the band's debut single, issued in 1977.

What the verified data does not clarify is the precise nature of this release — whether it was authorized, a compilation assembled for a specific market, or something else entirely. The label name, The Impossible Recordworks, and the catalog number IMP 1-104 are noted here for reference, but no additional documentation about the label's origins or distribution scope is confirmed in the available facts. Track durations are not listed in the source data.

Collectors and researchers encountering this record should treat the above as a starting framework. The presence of well-known titles alongside the relatively obscure label designation makes this a record worth further documentation. Any additional confirmed details regarding pressing origin, authorized status, or country of manufacture would meaningfully complete the picture.
