Powerwolf
Call Of The Wild

Listening notes

Powerwolf's *Call Of The Wild*, released in 2021 on Napalm Records, arrives on vinyl under catalog number NPR976VINYL. The album spans eleven tracks across two sides, placing the band within the power metal and rock genres.

Side A opens with "Faster Than The Flame" and moves through "Beast Of Gévaudan," a title referencing the historical creature said to have terrorized the Gévaudan region of France in the eighteenth century. "Dancing With The Dead" and "Varcolac" follow, the latter drawing its name from a figure in Romanian folklore associated with werewolves and supernatural transformation. Side A closes with "Alive Or Undead."

Side B leads with "Blood For Blood (Faoladh)," its parenthetical subtitle referring to the Irish Gaelic term for werewolf. "Glaubenskraft," a German-language title translating roughly to "power of faith," follows before the title track occupies the third position on the side. The sequence continues with "Sermon Of Swords," "Undress To Confess," and closes with "Reverent Of Rats."

Taken together, the track titles reflect themes the band has consistently associated with their work: religious imagery, supernatural folklore, and figures drawn from European mythology and history. The tracklist incorporates words and references from multiple languages and cultural traditions, including German, Irish Gaelic, and Romanian.

The vinyl edition is a standard two-sided LP configuration. Track durations are not available in the verified data for this entry and are omitted accordingly.
