Wake Up The Wicked

Listening notes

Powerwolf's 2024 box set release of Wake Up The Wicked on Napalm Records (NPR1176VINYL-BOX) is a substantial multi-disc vinyl package spanning three distinct components across six sides of wax. The set brings together the studio album, a live recording, and an orchestral companion piece under one roof, making its scope clear from the tracklist alone.

The first component, the Wake Up The Wicked studio album, occupies sides A and B across eleven tracks. Titles such as "Bless 'Em With The Blade," "Heretic Hunters," "1589," and "Joan Of Arc" reflect the band's well-established thematic territory, while "Kyrie Klitorem" and "Viva Vulgata" continue a pattern of ecclesiastical and Latin-derived language in track naming that has long been a Powerwolf hallmark. The album's title track appears at position B2.

Sides C and D present Live In New York, a twelve-track set drawing from across the band's catalog. Titles here include "Army Of The Night," "Armata Strigoi," "Demons Are A Girl's Best Friends," and "We Drink Your Blood," suggesting a broad reach into earlier material alongside more recent recordings.

The third disc, Orchestral Wickedness, fills sides E and F with orchestral versions of all eleven Wake Up The Wicked studio tracks, presented in the same sequence as the original album. This component mirrors the studio tracklist in full, offering a parallel listening path through the same material.

The box set is cataloged under the format designation "Vinyl, Vinyl, Vinyl, Box Set" and falls within the Power Metal and Rock genres. As an unreviewed draft, all details above should be confirmed against the physical release before publication.
