Wake Up The Wicked

Listening notes

Powerwolf's 2024 release Wake Up The Wicked arrives on Napalm Records as a substantial vinyl box set catalogued under NPR1176VINYL-BOX. Spanning three records and six sides, the package is organized across three distinct components, each pressed to its own disc.

The first record presents the studio album Wake Up The Wicked across sides A and B. Side A opens with "Bless 'Em With The Blade" and continues through "Sinners Of The Seven Seas," "Kyrie Klitorem," "Heretic Hunters," and "1589." Side B carries "Viva Vulgata," the title track, "Joan Of Arc," "Thunderpriest," "We Don't Wanna Be No Saints," and "Vargamor," bringing the album portion of the set to eleven tracks.

The second record is designated Live In New York, occupying sides C and D. Side C contains "Faster Than The Flame," "Incense & Iron," "Army Of The Night," "Amen & Attack," and "Dancing With The Dead." Side D follows with "Armata Strigoi," "Beast Of Gévaudan," "Demons Are A Girl's Best Friends," "Sainted By The Storm," "Blood For Blood (Faoladh)," and "We Drink Your Blood," for a combined eleven live tracks.

The third record, subtitled Orchestral Wickedness, mirrors the studio album's track sequence in full across sides E and F, presenting orchestral versions of all eleven songs from the main album. The inclusion of this component means that every track from Wake Up The Wicked appears twice within the box set, once in its original form and once in an orchestral arrangement.

The set is filed under the genres Power Metal and Rock. Collectors and fans considering the box set should verify current availability and pressing details directly with retailers or Napalm Records, as specific variant and edition information beyond what is listed here has not been confirmed for this draft.
