PRIMALS, The, Masayoshi Soken
Dawntrail 7-Inch Vinyl Single

Listening notes

Square Enix Music issued this 7-inch vinyl single in 2024 under catalog number SQEX-11128, pairing The Primals and composer Masayoshi Soken as the credited artists. The release carries two tracks: "Open Sky - The Theme From Dawntrail" on the A-side and "Dawntrail" on the B-side.

The Primals are the in-house rock band associated with the online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV, and Masayoshi Soken serves as the game's music director and composer. Dawntrail is the title of a Final Fantasy XIV expansion, and this single appears to serve as promotional or companion material tied to that release. The genres listed for the record span rock, stage and screen, and video game music, reflecting the dual identity the material occupies as both a game soundtrack component and a rock performance.

The 7-inch format situates the release within a tradition of limited or specialty music merchandise that video game publishers have increasingly used to reach collector audiences. Square Enix Music has issued vinyl in various configurations in recent years, and this single fits within that broader catalog activity. No pressing quantity, regional availability, or distribution details are available from the information at hand.

Track durations are not listed in the available data, so no runtime information can be confirmed for either side. Personnel beyond the two credited artists are not documented here and should not be assumed.
