Listening notes

Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl, released on Polydor (catalog number 827 987-2), is a CD compilation drawing from the band's catalog across genres that span blues rock, hard rock, and rock. The release collects thirteen tracks with a combined runtime that stretches well past an hour, offering a substantial cross-section of material associated with the group.

The tracklist opens with "Spotlight Kid" at six minutes and three seconds and closes with "Weiss Heim" at five minutes and fifteen seconds. Between those bookends, the sequencing moves through a range of track lengths. "Difficult To Cure" is the longest selection at eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, while "Man On The Silver Mountain" runs eight minutes and sixteen seconds and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" reaches seven minutes and eight seconds, giving the latter portion of the disc considerable weight. Shorter entries include "Jealous Lover" at three minutes and ten seconds and "Since You Been Gone" at three minutes and forty-seven seconds, providing some variation in pacing across the program.

Other titles represented here include "I Surrender," "Miss Mistreated," "Can't Happen Here," "Bad Girl," "Stone Cold," and "Power," rounding out a thirteen-track sequence that totals just over seventy-three minutes of playing time by a straightforward addition of the listed durations.

The release is formatted as a CD and carries the Polydor imprint.
