Rainbow
Finyl Vinyl

Listening notes

Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl, released on Polydor (catalog number 547 368-2), is a two-disc CD compilation drawing from the hard rock and rock catalog of one of the genre's most recognized acts. The release spans fifteen tracks across its two discs, offering a broad cross-section of material from the band's recording history.

Disc one opens with "Spotlight Kid" at just over six minutes and moves through a sequence that includes "I Surrender," "Miss Mistreated," "Street of Dreams," and "Jealous Lover" before reaching "Can't Happen Here" and "Tearin' Out My Heart," the latter running just over eight minutes and standing as the longest entry on the first disc. "Since You Been Gone" and "Bad Girl" round out the opening disc.

Disc two shifts in scale almost immediately. "Difficult to Cure" leads at eleven minutes and thirteen seconds, making it the single longest track across both discs. It is followed by "Stone Cold," "Power," and then two extended performances: "Man on the Silver Mountain" at eight minutes eighteen seconds and "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" at seven minutes seven seconds. The compilation closes with "Weiss Heim," which runs five minutes twelve seconds.

In total, the release carries more than ninety-five minutes of material. The sequencing on disc two in particular leans toward longer, more expansive pieces, with the second half of that disc featuring no track under seven minutes. Whether that structure reflects a deliberate curatorial logic or simply the nature of the material selected is not something the available facts can confirm.

Collectors and researchers consulting this entry should note that no release year has been confirmed for this pressing and should verify that detail independently before citing it.
