Rainbow
Finyl Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 1986 on Mercury Records, Finyl Vinyl is a double album from Rainbow, catalogued under 827 987-1-M-2. Spanning four sides of vinyl across the hard rock and rock genres, the release brings together fourteen tracks drawn from the band's catalog.

The sequencing spreads the material evenly, with three tracks on Side A, five on Side B, three on Side C, and three on Side D. Side A opens with "Spotlight Kid" at five minutes, followed by "I Surrender" at five minutes and forty-five seconds, and "Miss Mistreated" at three minutes and twenty-one seconds. Side B carries the largest number of individual tracks, running from "Jealous Lover" through "Bad Girl" and including the well-known titles "Can't Happen Here" and "Since You Been Gone." The extended "Tearin' Out My Heart," clocking in at eight minutes and four seconds, anchors the center of Side B.

Side C is notable for its runtime demands. "Difficult To Cure" runs eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, making it the longest individual selection on the record, and it occupies the lead position on that side. "Stone Cold" and "Power" follow, each falling in the four-minute range. Side D closes the album with three tracks: "Man On The Silver Mountain" at eight minutes and twenty seconds, "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" at seven minutes and twelve seconds, and "Weiss Heim" at five minutes and ten seconds. The combined length of those three tracks alone accounts for more than twenty minutes of music.

The total runtime across all four sides is substantial, reflecting the scope typical of a multi-disc vinyl compilation format. Collectors and reference researchers should verify all additional details, including personnel, pressing variations, and regional release specifics, against primary documentation before drawing further conclusions.
