Listening notes

Rainbow's *Finyl Vinyl*, released on Polydor (catalog number 827 987-2), is a CD compilation drawing from the band's catalog across the hard rock and rock genres. The release brings together thirteen tracks that span what the title's wordplay suggests: a retrospective look at the group's recorded output, presented in a single-disc format.

The tracklist runs a combined runtime that leans toward generous sequencing. The longest entry is "Difficult To Cure" at eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, while "Man On The Silver Mountain" follows at eight minutes and sixteen seconds and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" at seven minutes and eight seconds, giving the latter portion of the disc a notably extended character. At the other end, "Jealous Lover" clocks in at three minutes and ten seconds, the most concise selection on the release.

The thirteen tracks include "Since You Been Gone," "I Surrender," "Stone Cold," and "Can't Happen Here," alongside "Spotlight Kid," "Miss Mistreated," "Bad Girl," and "Power." The compilation closes with "Weiss Heim" at five minutes and fifteen seconds. Taken together, the sequencing moves from shorter individual pieces early in the running order before expanding into the longer performances that occupy the second half.

Issued on Polydor under catalog number 827 987-2, the release sits within the hard rock genre. No release year is confirmed in the available documentation for this edition, which is a detail worth flagging for verification before publication.
