Rainbow
Finyl Vinyl

Listening notes

Released by Polydor in 1986 under catalog number 827 987-1, Finyl Vinyl is a vinyl compilation from Rainbow spanning the hard rock and rock genres. The release is formatted across four sides, presenting fourteen tracks drawn from the band's catalog.

Side A opens with "Spotlight Kid" at five minutes, followed by "I Surrender" at five minutes and forty-five seconds, and closes with "Miss Mistreated" at three minutes and twenty-one seconds. Side B carries five tracks: "Jealous Lover," "Can't Happen Here," "Tearin' Out My Heart," "Since You Been Gone," and "Bad Girl." Of these, "Tearin' Out My Heart" is the longest on the side at eight minutes and four seconds.

Side C is anchored by "Difficult To Cure," which runs eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, making it the longest individual track on the release. It is followed by "Stone Cold" and "Power." Side D closes the compilation with "Man On The Silver Mountain" at eight minutes and twenty seconds, "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" at seven minutes and twelve seconds, and "Weiss Heim" at five minutes and ten seconds.

The four-sided format reflects a total runtime that is substantial by the standards of a single LP, accommodating the longer track lengths present across the program. Several individual selections exceed five minutes, and the sequencing distributes these extended pieces across the full span of the release rather than concentrating them in one place.

As a 1986 Polydor pressing, Finyl Vinyl represents the label's packaging of Rainbow's recorded output in physical vinyl form at a point when the format was facing increasing commercial pressure from compact disc. The release carries no additional verified personnel, production, or annotation details within the scope of this draft.
