Rainbow
Finyl Vinyl

Listening notes

Rainbow's *Finyl Vinyl*, released on Polydor (catalog number 827 987-2 YH), is a CD compilation drawing from the hard rock and rock catalog of the band. The release collects thirteen tracks spanning what the title itself winkingly acknowledges as a survey of the group's recorded output, the name a deliberate play on the phrase "final vinyl."

The tracklist runs a considerable total runtime, anchored by several of the longer performances in the set. "Difficult To Cure" is the most expansive at eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, followed by "Man On The Silver Mountain" at eight minutes and sixteen seconds and "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" at seven minutes and eight seconds. These extended running times suggest the compilation leans toward live or extended versions of at least some material, though the available data does not confirm recording contexts for individual tracks.

The remaining selections vary in length. "Spotlight Kid" opens the disc at just over six minutes, while "I Surrender" follows at five minutes and forty-three seconds. Shorter entries include "Jealous Lover" at three minutes and ten seconds and "Since You Been Gone" at three minutes and forty-seven seconds. The closing track, "Weiss Heim," runs five minutes and fifteen seconds.

Across its thirteen tracks, the compilation presents a cross-section of titles associated with Rainbow's recorded work, including "Stone Cold," "Can't Happen Here," "Miss Mistreated," "Bad Girl," and "Power." The sequencing moves from longer opening tracks into varied mid-section material before returning to extended runtimes toward the close of the disc.

No release year is confirmed in the available data. Researchers and collectors seeking additional detail on personnel, pressing variants, or individual track provenance should consult primary documentation.
