Rainbow
Finyl Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Polydor under catalog number UICY-93626/7, this two-disc CD edition of Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl collects fifteen tracks drawn from across the band's catalog, spanning the hard rock and rock genres the group worked within throughout their active years.

The set is organized across two discs. The first opens with "Spotlight Kid" at five minutes and moves through a varied sequence that includes "I Surrender" at five minutes and forty-five seconds, "Miss Mistreated," and "Street Of Dreams," for which no duration is listed in the available documentation. The disc continues through "Jealous Lover," "Can't Happen Here," and the extended "Tearin' Out My Heart" at eight minutes and four seconds, before closing with "Since You Been Gone" and "Bad Girl."

The second disc leads with "Difficult To Cure," the longest track in the collection at eleven minutes and fifteen seconds. It is followed by "Stone Cold," "Power," and a pair of substantial live or extended readings in "Man On The Silver Mountain" at eight minutes and twenty seconds and "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" at seven minutes and twelve seconds. The disc closes with "Weiss Heim" at five minutes and ten seconds.

The running times across both discs suggest the compilers were willing to include lengthier renditions of certain titles alongside shorter studio-length tracks, though the nature of any individual recording — whether studio, live, or otherwise — cannot be confirmed from the available information. Collectors and researchers consulting this entry should note that the duration field for "Street Of Dreams" is absent from current documentation and may warrant independent verification before this draft is published.
