Reverend Bizarre
Return To The Rectory

Listening notes

Reverend Bizarre's Return To The Rectory was released on vinyl by Svart Records in 2020 under catalog number SVR 047. The release falls under the genres of doom metal and rock, and spans a double-LP format suggested by its four-sided tracklist layout.

The seven tracks are distributed across four sides, with the Roman numeral sequencing rendered in an unconventional hybrid notation: side A carries tracks I and II, side B carries track III, side C carries tracks IV and V, and side D closes the record with tracks VI and VII. The titles themselves speak to the aesthetic territory the band occupied: "The March Of The War Elephants" and its counterpart "The Wrath Of The War Elephants" bookend the sequence, while "The Festival," "The Goddess Of Doom," "Aleister," "For You Who Walk In The Land Of The Shadows," and "Dark Sorceress (Autumn Siege)" fill the interior. Taken as a list, the track titles suggest a preoccupation with mythology, occultism, and archaic grandeur that is broadly consistent with the doom metal genre.

No track durations are available in the verified data for this release.
