Die Drei ??? 1-10 - Picture Vinyl Box

Listening notes

Released in 2019 on Sony Music, the Die Drei ??? 1-10 Picture Vinyl Box (catalog number 19075 93238 1) collects the first ten episodes of the long-running German-language radio play series on vinyl. The set is catalogued under the genres of Children's, Non-Music, and Radioplay, placing it firmly outside the conventional music release category while still occupying space in the vinyl format.

The source material draws on stories credited to Robert Arthur, William Arden, Mary Virginia Carey, and Nick West, names associated with the original Three Investigators book series on which the German radio plays are based. The box brings together episodes one through ten: Und Der Super-Papagei, Und Der Phantomsee, Und Der Karpatenhund, Und Die Schwarze Katze, Und Der Fluch Des Rubins, Und Der Sprechende Totenkopf, Und Der Unheimliche Drache, Und Der Grüne Geist, Und Die Rätselhaften Bilder, and Und Die Flüsternde Mumie.

As the title makes clear, each episode is presented on a picture vinyl disc, meaning the playing surface carries printed artwork rather than a standard black pressing. The set contains ten such discs, one per episode. No track durations or side-by-side sequencing data are confirmed in the available documentation.

The release represents a physical format treatment of audio content that had previously circulated in other formats over the decades since the radio play series began. Its classification as Non-Music and Radioplay reflects the spoken-word nature of the recordings rather than any musical content. No additional verified details regarding pressing specifications, packaging dimensions, or insert materials are available from the confirmed facts on hand.
