Primal Vinyl

Listening notes

Shoes' *Primal Vinyl*, released in 2015 on Alive Records (catalog number ALIVE0170-1), collects twelve rock tracks across two sides of a standard LP configuration. The record spreads its runtime evenly, with six tracks per side and a total playing time that keeps individual songs concise — most fall well under the four-minute mark, with the shortest, "Boys Don't Lie," clocking in at just under two minutes and the longest, "Don't Do This To Me," reaching three minutes and fifty-two seconds.

Side A opens with "Tomorrow Night" and moves through "Don't Do This To Me," "Too Late," "Girls Of Today," "Okay," and "I Don't Wanna Hear It." Side B begins with "Boys Don't Lie" and continues through "She Satisfies," "The Summer Rain," "Burned Out Love," "Love Is Like A Bullet," and closes with "Hate To Run." "The Summer Rain," at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, is the longest track on the B side.

The track sequencing reflects a fairly consistent economy of form throughout. No single song on either side extends beyond four minutes, and several come in below two and a half minutes, giving the record a compact overall shape. "The Summer Rain" and "Don't Do This To Me" stand as the two longest entries across the full program.

Alive Records, the label behind this release, has built a catalog oriented around rock and related genres, and *Primal Vinyl* fits that framework as a vinyl issue under their standard release structure. The catalog number ALIVE0170-1 places it within the label's documented output. Beyond its release year, label affiliation, format, and tracklist, further details about this record's origins or context would require verification from additional sources.
