Primal Vinyl

Listening notes

Shoes released Primal Vinyl on Alive Records in 2015, cataloged as ALIVE0170-1. The record is a twelve-track vinyl release categorized under rock, with the program divided evenly across two sides at six tracks each.

Side A opens with "Tomorrow Night" at two minutes and fifty-six seconds and moves through "Don't Do This To Me," the longest track on the record at three minutes and fifty-two seconds, before continuing with "Too Late," "Girls Of Today," "Okay," and "I Don't Wanna Hear It." The final two tracks on the side share a running time of three minutes and four seconds each, giving Side A a degree of internal symmetry before closing out.

Side B begins with the album's shortest entry, "Boys Don't Lie," at one minute and fifty-seven seconds, followed by "She Satisfies," "The Summer Rain," "Burned Out Love," "Love Is Like A Bullet," and "Hate To Run." "The Summer Rain" is the longest track on Side B at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, while the closing track "Hate To Run" comes in just under two and a half minutes.

Across both sides, the twelve tracks total a program that leans toward concise running times. Only two tracks exceed three and a half minutes — "Don't Do This To Me" on Side A and "The Summer Rain" on Side B — and several fall well under three minutes. The shortest, "Boys Don't Lie," clocks in at under two minutes. This structural economy is a consistent feature of how the record is sequenced.

Primal Vinyl was issued under catalog number ALIVE0170-1 through Alive Records and represents a vinyl format release from the band within the broader rock genre designation.
