Smiths, The
Vinyl Party

Listening notes

Released in 2016 under the designation "Not On Label (The Smiths)" with catalog number VINYLP 01, Vinyl Party is a twelve-track vinyl compilation drawing from the catalog of The Smiths, a group catalogued under the Alternative Rock and Rock genres.

The release is spread across two sides. Side A opens with "Hand In Glove," the band's debut single, and continues through "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now," "Girl Afraid," "This Charming Man," and "Barbarism Begins At Home" before closing with "This Night Has Opened My Eyes." Side B leads with "Miserable Lie" and proceeds through "I Don't Owe You Anything," "What Difference Does It Make?," "Handsome Devil," "You've Got Everything Now," and "These Things Take Time."

Several of the tracks represented here were originally issued as standalone singles during the band's active years in the 1980s, including "This Charming Man," "Hand In Glove," "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now," "Girl Afraid," and "What Difference Does It Make?," while others appeared on the band's debut self-titled album. No track durations are listed in the available data for this release.

The "Not On Label" designation indicates this release was not issued through a conventional commercial label arrangement, and the catalog number VINYLP 01 suggests it may be the first or only release under this particular numbering scheme. Beyond these structural details, the available data does not support further claims regarding personnel, production, pressing specifications, or the circumstances surrounding this release's origin.

Researchers and collectors seeking additional documentation on this title are encouraged to consult primary sources, as the information on record for VINYLP 01 remains limited.
