Sun Dial
Other Way Out (25th Anniversary Ltd Edition Vinyl)

Listening notes

Sun Dial's Other Way Out reappeared in 2015 as a 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Vinyl release on the Tangerine label, catalog number MM 019, placing the album within the psychedelic rock and rock genres. The release presents six tracks across two sides, and the running times alone hint at the expansive territory the band occupies.

Side A opens with "Plains Of Nazca" at seven minutes and twenty-four seconds, followed by "Exploding In Your Mind" at five minutes and twenty-two seconds, and closes with "Magic Flight" running six minutes and twenty-five seconds. Side B leads with "World Without Time" at seven minutes and twenty-one seconds, then "She's Looking All Around," the longest piece on the record at ten minutes and ten seconds, before finishing with "Lorne Blues" at three minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The total runtime is substantial, and the sequencing places the album's longest track near the end of the second side rather than at its center.

The anniversary framing situates the original release approximately in 1990, making this edition a formal acknowledgment of the album's longevity within Sun Dial's catalog. That the release was issued as a limited edition suggests an intentional distinction from any standard pressings, though the specific nature of that distinction — edition size, color, or other physical particulars — is not documented in the available information and cannot be stated here.

What the facts do establish is a straightforward archival picture: a psychedelic rock record, reissued on vinyl by Tangerine a quarter century after its original appearance, presenting six tracks that collectively run well past the forty-minute mark. Collectors and listeners approaching this release will find those structural details reliable; anything beyond them should be verified independently before publication.
