Vinyl Box

Listening notes

Released in 2013 on Topshelf Records, the Vinyl Box is a five-record box set collecting material from the Japanese band toe across what the tracklist identifies as five distinct releases: Songs, Ideas We Forgot, The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety, New Sentimentality, For Long Tomorrow, and The Future Is Now.

The set is organized across ten sides, labeled A through J, with each constituent release occupying its own pair of sides. Songs, Ideas We Forgot fills sides A and B, including a remix of "I Dance Alone" credited as the Light On Light Mix alongside the album version. The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety spans sides C and D, carrying the largest single track count of any release in the set. New Sentimentality occupies sides E and F, while For Long Tomorrow — the most expansive release in the collection by track count — runs across sides G and H and includes both Japanese-language titles and English ones, among them a cover of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So." The final record, The Future Is Now, concludes the set across sides I and J.

The genres listed for the release span alternative rock, indie rock, jazz, jazz-rock, math rock, post-rock, and rock, reflecting the range of stylistic territory the tracklist covers across these five bodies of work.

No catalog number is assigned to this release. Collectors and researchers consulting this entry should treat track durations as unconfirmed, as that data is not available in the verified source material for this pressing.
