Toxic Shock (9)
Bummed Out No Vinyl On Record Store Day Tape

Listening notes

Toxic Shock (9) released "Bummed Out No Vinyl On Record Store Day Tape" in 2015 through Fat Kat Records, catalogued as FKTS1984. The release is formatted as a cassette and sits within the punk and rock genres.

The title itself carries an unmistakable wink at the collector culture surrounding Record Store Day, the annual retail event that has become closely associated with limited vinyl pressings and the frustrations that can accompany chasing them. Whether the name reflects a genuine grievance, a piece of deadpan humor, or some combination of the two, it positions the release as a cassette making a self-aware comment on its own format at a moment when vinyl had reasserted considerable cultural currency.

The tape contains two tracks across its two sides. Side A opens with "Two Faced Believer" followed by "Ride The Life." Side B mirrors this sequence exactly, repeating "Two Faced Believer" and then "Ride The Life." This mirrored configuration is a straightforward structural feature of the release rather than an unusual arrangement, as many cassette releases duplicate content across both sides to allow playback without manual track selection. Duration information for the individual tracks is not available in the verified release data.

Beyond the format, the label, the catalog number, the year, and the tracklist structure, the verified data on this release is limited. Personnel, recording circumstances, and any additional context around the release have not been confirmed and are therefore not addressed here.
