Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats
Blood Lust

Listening notes

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats released Blood Lust on Metal Blade Records in 2013, catalogued as 3984-15166-1. The album spans eight tracks across two sides, placing it within the genres of acid rock, doom metal, psychedelic rock, and rock.

Side A opens with "I'll Cut You Down" at five minutes and three seconds, followed by the album's longest track, "Death's Door," which runs seven minutes and twenty-one seconds. "Over And Over Again" is the shortest entry on the record at three minutes and twenty-three seconds, and Side A closes with "Curse In The Trees" at four minutes and forty-two seconds.

Side B begins with "I'm Here To Kill You," running three minutes and forty-three seconds, before "13 Candles" extends to seven minutes and four seconds, making it the second-longest track on the album. "Ritual Knife" follows at four minutes and forty-six seconds, and the record concludes with "Withered Hand Of Evil" at six minutes and twenty-three seconds.

The tracklist titles, taken collectively, establish a consistent thematic register throughout the album. References to cutting, killing, candles, ritual implements, and decay appear across both sides without interruption, suggesting a deliberate and sustained conceptual frame rather than a loose gathering of individual songs. The sequencing places the two longest tracks — "Death's Door" and "13 Candles" — as the second entries on their respective sides, a structural choice that gives each half of the record an early weight before shorter pieces follow.

The total runtime, derived from the listed durations, comes to approximately forty-two minutes and twenty-five seconds across the vinyl format.
