Netherstorm

Listening notes

Vargrav's *Netherstorm*, released in 2018 on Werewolf Records (catalog number EVIL-046), is a vinyl release catalogued under the genres of black metal, rock, and symphonic metal. The release presents two distinct bodies of material across its sides, structured in a way that rewards attention to its sequencing.

The main album occupies six tracks spread across two sides. Side A opens with the title track "Netherstorm" at 8:34, followed by "Shadowed Secrets Unmasked" at 7:23 and "Limbo Of Abysmal Void" at 6:00. Side B leads with "Celestial Visions Of A Monumental Cataclysm" at 7:10, then the album's longest piece, "Obedient, Tolerant, Ensnared," running 10:27, before closing with "In Divine Embrace Of The Dying Light" at 3:45. The total runtime of these six tracks amounts to just over 43 minutes, with the extended pieces on both sides giving the release a deliberately expansive character on paper.

A second pairing of tracks also appears in the tracklist under the title *The Glory Of Eternal Night*, comprising a 6:09 track of the same name on side A and "Ancient Queen" at 3:51 on side B. The relationship between this material and the main album sequence — whether representing a separate release bundled together or a bonus component — is not specified by the available data alone.

The release carries the Werewolf Records imprint, a Finnish label associated with underground metal output. The format is listed as vinyl, and the catalog number EVIL-046 places it within that label's documented series.
