Barbershop 2 (Soundtrack) Vinyl Sampler

Listening notes

Released in 2004 on Interscope Records, the Barbershop 2 Soundtrack Vinyl Sampler (catalog number INTR-11098-1) is a promotional record tied to the soundtrack for the Barbershop 2 film. Spanning genres that include Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, and Soundtrack, the release presents a focused selection of material drawn from the broader compilation.

The record is structured across two sides, designated A and AA, each carrying four tracks. Side A opens with "Unconditionally" in a clean LP version running three minutes and forty seconds, followed immediately by its instrumental counterpart at the same duration. The pattern continues with "All," presented first in a clean LP version at three minutes and twenty-five seconds and then as an instrumental of equal length. Side AA follows the same format. "Wussy" appears in a clean LP version at three minutes and forty-seven seconds, paired with its instrumental, and the record closes with "One Of Ours" in a clean LP version at three minutes and sixteen seconds alongside its corresponding instrumental.

The consistent pairing of clean LP versions with instrumentals across all four tracks is the defining structural characteristic of this release. That formatting suggests the record was intended for a specific functional purpose, most likely radio or retail promotional use, rather than general consumer distribution. The word "Sampler" in the title further supports that reading.

Total program time across both sides amounts to roughly twenty-eight minutes, making this a relatively compact release by standard LP measures. All eight tracks are accounted for within the two-sided, eight-selection format, with no locked grooves, hidden tracks, or other structural variations indicated by the available data.
