Masayoshi Soken
A Realm Reborn Vinyl LP

Listening notes

Released in 2021 on Square Enix Music (catalog number SQEX-10846), this vinyl LP presents a selection of music from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, with compositions credited to Masayoshi Soken. The release falls under the soundtrack, stage and screen, and video game music genres, situating it within the broader category of game score documentation on physical media.

The record is programmed across two sides and carries eleven tracks in total. Side A opens with "Torn From The Heavens," which also carries the Japanese title 天より降りし力, and continues through "A New Hope," "Wailers And Waterwheels," and "I Am The Sea" before closing with "Under The Weight," associated with the Titan primal battle encounter. Side B begins with "Out Of The Labyrinth," linked to the Crystal Tower raid, and moves through "Through The Maelstrom" and "The Scars Of Battle" before arriving at "Oblivion," connected to the Shiva primal battle. The side concludes with "A Light In The Storm" and "Ultima," the latter rendered in Japanese as 究極幻想.

Each track is presented with both an English title and a Japanese title, a bilingual convention reflected consistently across the full program. Several of the selections are explicitly associated with specific in-game encounters, including primal battles and raid locations, details that are legible from the track titles themselves.
