Boogie Chillen - Early Mods’ First-Choice Vinyl

Listening notes

Fantastic Voyage's 2013 compilation Boogie Chillen - Early Mods' First-Choice Vinyl (catalog number FVTD156) is a three-disc CD set drawing from a range of genres the label identifies as Blues, Blues Rock, Boogie, Doo Wop, Funk / Soul, Mod, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, and Soul. The title's explicit framing around early Mod culture gives the set a curatorial angle that distinguishes it from a generic oldies anthology, though the specific artists and original recording dates are not detailed in the available catalog data.

The tracklist is substantial, running to seventy-five tracks across three discs, each disc anchored by a title track of sorts: disc one opens near "Boogie Chillen," disc two carries "Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go," and disc three concludes its sequence around "Land Of 1000 Dances." The individual tracks will be familiar to anyone with an interest in the period the set covers. Titles such as "Who Do You Love?," "I'm A King Bee," "Willie And The Hand Jive," "Dust My Blues," "Green Onions," "Twist And Shout," "Mother-In-Law," and "Land Of 1000 Dances" appear alongside lesser-cited entries like "Ooh Poo Pah Doo (Parts 1 & 2)," "Hide And Go Seek (Part 1)," and "It Will Stand," suggesting a compiler willing to move at least occasionally beyond the most obvious choices.

Fantastic Voyage is a budget reissue label, and FVTD156 sits within that context. Prospective buyers should note that track durations and full personnel credits are not confirmed in the available data, and independent verification of those details is advisable before purchase. This draft requires fact-checker review of all artist attributions and licensing information before publication.
