Cooking Vinyl Sampler 2000

Listening notes

Cooking Vinyl Sampler 2000 is an eighteen-track CD compilation released by Cooking Vinyl in 2000 under catalog number SAMPR01. The release draws from genres spanning alternative rock, folk rock, indie rock, and rock, reflecting the broad stylistic range that the independent label maintained in its roster at that time.

The tracklist opens with "Rise" and moves through a varied sequence that includes at least two tracks presented in non-standard versions: "Mayday" appears here as a demo version, and "Sports Car" is offered in an acoustic version. These inclusions suggest the sampler was conceived in part to give listeners access to material in forms that may differ from any separately released recordings. The remaining fifteen tracks are identified only by title in the available documentation, with no personnel or duration information attached to any of the eighteen entries.

Among the track titles, "All The Young Dudes" is a notable name to appear on a compilation of this period, though no attribution to a specific artist or arrangement is confirmed in the available facts. Titles such as "An Buachaille," "Kerry Kerry," and "When I'm Up I Can't Get Down" point to the folk-oriented side of the label's output, while others sit more comfortably within a rock or indie rock frame.

As a sampler, the release carries catalog number SAMPR01, a designation that identifies it as a promotional or introductory vehicle rather than a standard commercial album. No further pressing details, track attributions, or distribution information are confirmed in the available record.
