Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Vol 2

Listening notes

Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Vol. 2 was released in 1985 on Flipside Records under catalog number FSR 3. A compilation spanning hardcore, punk, and rock, it serves as the second installment in a series that translated the spirit of the fanzine format onto vinyl, gathering various artists across two sides of a record.

The tracklist is notably dense. Side A opens with "Just A Dream" and moves through eight additional tracks, including "Island Paradise," "Backwards Explosion," "Metastasis," "Mad Dog," a live recording of "Out Of School," "Let's Forget," "Golden Boys," and "Magnetic Shoes." Side B carries twelve tracks, among them "Johnny's Got A Problem," a live version of "Attitude," "Walking The Dog," "Aggressive System," "Domination Or Destruction," "No Wordz," "How Old Are You?," "Descending In 'E'," "Let It Burn," a live recording of "Forming," "Dickerman," and "Shakin' All Over." The inclusion of three live recordings across the two sides — "Out Of School," "Attitude," and "Forming" — distinguishes certain entries from the remaining studio contributions.

In total the release collects twenty-one tracks. That volume, combined with the genres listed, positions this as a document of the mid-1980s underground scene as curated through the Flipside perspective. The catalog designation FSR 3 places it early within Flipside Records' release history.

Track durations are not available in the verified documentation for this release. Personnel and contributing artist attributions for individual tracks are likewise not confirmed in the available data and have been omitted from this draft pending further research.
