Various
Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Vol 2

Listening notes

Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Vol. 2 was released in 1985 on Flipside Records under catalog number FSR 3. A various artists compilation spanning hardcore, punk, and rock, it arrived as the second installment in a series that extended the Flipside fanzine brand onto vinyl.

The record carries twenty-one tracks across two sides. Side A opens with "Just A Dream" and moves through "Island Paradise," "Backwards Explosion," "Metastasis," "Mad Dog," a live recording of "Out Of School," "Let's Forget," "Golden Boys," and "Magnetic Shoes." Side B runs twelve tracks: "Johnny's Got A Problem," a live take on "Attitude," "Walking The Dog," "Aggressive System," "Domination Or Destruction," "No Wordz," "How Old Are You?," "Descending In 'E'," "Let It Burn," a live performance of "Forming," "Dickerman," and "Shakin' All Over."

Three of the twenty-one tracks are designated as live recordings — "Out Of School," "Attitude," and "Forming" — giving the compilation a mixed studio and live character that was consistent with the anything-goes documentation spirit common to fanzine culture of the period. No track durations are listed in the available documentation.

The compilation fits within the broader tradition of punk-adjacent fanzines using affordable formats to circulate music alongside print content, though the verified facts on hand do not specify which artists contributed which tracks, who was involved in production, or how the release was received at the time. Those details would require additional sourcing before publication.

As catalog number FSR 3, this is the third release documented under the Flipside Records imprint, situating it as an early entry in that label's output. Fact checker should verify artist-to-track assignments, label history, and any additional release variants before this goes live.
