Flying Vinyl: April 2017

Listening notes

Flying Vinyl: April 2017 arrived as Issue 23 in the ongoing series from Flying Vinyl (2), released in 2017 as a vinyl box set containing multiple records. The release sits across genres catalogued as indie pop, indie rock, pop, and rock, which is broadly representative of the curatorial scope Flying Vinyl applied to its subscription model during this period.

The box set spreads its twelve tracks across six sides, with the majority of sides carrying a single track and sides E and F each presenting two. That asymmetry in sequencing gives the collection a varied pacing on paper, with single-sided pairings bookending the multi-track sides. Track positions run alphabetically from A through J, covering titles including "Boyfriend," "Am," "Boyish," "Way It Goes," "Dizzy Ghosts," "Bathed In Light," "Embers," "She's A Witch," "Welcome To The Treehouse (7" Re-Edit)," "Eat Shiitake Mushrooms (Joel Wolf Alice Remix)," "Orthodox Man," and "No One Else In Mind."

Two tracks carry designations worth noting for collectors parsing the tracklist. "Welcome To The Treehouse" is identified specifically as a 7" re-edit, and "Eat Shiitake Mushrooms" is credited as a Joel Wolf Alice Remix, meaning at least two of the twelve selections were not straightforward album or single versions at the time of inclusion.

No track durations are listed in the available documentation for this issue. Artist attributions per track are similarly absent from the verified data, which is a limitation worth flagging for any researcher attempting to use this entry as a complete reference. The catalog number is given as Issue 23, consistent with the numbered series format Flying Vinyl used for its monthly subscription releases.

This is an unreviewed draft requiring fact-checker confirmation before publication.
