Free Hard Vinyl EP!

Listening notes

Released in 1992, the Free Hard Vinyl EP! is a four-track compilation issued on the Devotion label under catalog number KERRANG! 1000. The release spans two sides, each representing a different label imprint: Side D carries the Devotion banner, while Side B is credited to Music For Nations, suggesting a co-promotional arrangement between the two labels.

The tracklist draws from genres cataloged as doom metal, industrial, industrial metal, and rock, pointing to a compilation that cuts across adjacent but distinct corners of the heavier end of early-1990s music. Side D opens with a special edit of "Murder Inc" at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, followed by "Possession" at three minutes and twenty-nine seconds. Side M presents "No Forgiveness," also a special edit, running three minutes and twenty-eight seconds, and closes with "Ebony Throne," the longest track at four minutes and twenty-two seconds.

The presence of two tracks identified as special edits suggests that at least some of the material was adapted specifically for this release rather than carried over in its original form. The catalog number incorporating the word KERRANG! implies a connection to the British rock and metal magazine of the same name, which was known during this period for including covermounted media with its issues, though the nature of any such arrangement here is not confirmed by the available data.

The release format is standard vinyl. Beyond what the tracklist and label credits directly indicate, the surrounding context of this EP — its personnel, individual artist attributions per track, and the circumstances of its distribution — remains outside the scope of verified information on record and should be confirmed before publication.
