Hulen Fra A Til Å

Listening notes

Hulen Fra A Til Å is a various artists compilation released in 1994 on the Het Vinyl label, bearing the catalog number 1000. Issued on CD, the release draws from the genres of indie rock, pop rock, and rock.

The title, which translates roughly from Norwegian as "The Cave From A to Z," suggests a broad survey of some kind, though the specific context or purpose behind the compilation is not documented in the available information. The label name Het Vinyl and the catalog number 1000 are the identifiers on record, and nothing further about the label's history or origins can be confirmed here.

The thirteen-track program runs a considerable length, with several extended pieces among the selections. Track six, "Sick To The Bone," clocks in at seven minutes and forty-eight seconds, while the closing track, "Korstoget (Last Crusade Mix)," runs a full ten minutes. "Junior (Bigmuff Version)" at five minutes and twenty-eight seconds and "Some" at five minutes and three seconds also extend beyond the standard pop format. The presence of a demo designation on "Running Out Of Bad Jokes" and alternate mix designations on both "Junior" and "Korstoget" indicate that at least some of the material was curated with variant recordings in mind.

The tracklist mixes Norwegian-language titles — including "Kald, Klein Og Kadaver," "Forbrukerrapporten 2," "Bare Ikke Nok," and "Korstoget" — alongside English-language titles, pointing to a compilation that spans at least two linguistic contexts. "For Jesse Bernstein" appears as track ten, referencing a name that may be significant, though no further documentation is available to confirm the nature of that reference.
