Panx Vinyl Zine 01

Listening notes

Panx Vinyl Zine 01 is a various artists compilation released in 1989 on Panx Productions, carrying the catalog number PP004. The record spans two sides across five tracks, working through hardcore, punk, and rock territory.

Side A opens with "Phone Affairs," followed by "Die By The Gun" and "Giv' Mi." Side B carries two tracks: "Manipulacije" and "Ets Una Peça Mes." The tracklist alone suggests a release drawing from more than one linguistic and likely geographic context. "Manipulacije" is a word recognizable in several South Slavic languages, while "Ets Una Peça Mes" reads as Catalan, roughly translating to "You Are One More Piece." Whether this reflects the actual origins of the contributing artists is a matter for further verification, but the titles point toward a compilation that may have gathered material from multiple regions rather than a single local scene.

The title frames the release as a vinyl zine, a format with some precedent in underground punk and hardcore circles during this period, where the physical record itself served a function adjacent to a printed zine — distributing music and scene information outside conventional commercial channels. Whether Panx Vinyl Zine 01 operated explicitly within that tradition, and whether additional volumes followed, is not confirmed by the available information.

Panx Productions is listed as the releasing label, with PP004 indicating this was at minimum the fourth catalog entry from that imprint. Beyond what the catalog number implies about the label's prior output, no additional verified information about Panx Productions is available here.

Track durations are not documented in the available data.
