Panx Vinyl Zine 05

Listening notes

Panx Vinyl Zine 05 is a various artists compilation released in 1990 on Panx Productions, carrying the catalog number PP008. The release sits within the hardcore, punk, and rock genres, and forms part of the Panx Vinyl Zine series, a format that by its name suggests an intersection between the DIY zine culture common to punk communities of the era and the vinyl medium itself.

The record spans two sides. Side A opens with "I Want Some," followed by "Arktinen Hysteria," then "Just Another Word," and closes with the notably titled "Live What You Preach (Or Don't Preach)." Side B carries three tracks: "Die Hexe," "Finir Sur NRJ," and a third track rounding out the side. The track titles alone hint at the international scope of the compilation, with titles drawing on English, Finnish, German, and French, suggesting contributions from artists across multiple countries, though the specific performers behind each track are not confirmed here.

The series numbering — this being the fifth installment, with a catalog number of PP008 — indicates that Panx Productions had released other material under its banner by 1990, and that the vinyl zine concept was an ongoing project rather than a one-off release. Compilation formats of this kind were a common mechanism within hardcore and punk networks for distributing music across scenes that might otherwise have limited contact with one another.

No track durations are documented for this release. This draft reflects only the verified information available and should be reviewed by a fact checker before publication. Details including personnel, pressing information, and any additional release context remain unconfirmed.
