Panx Vinyl Zine 09

Listening notes

Panx Vinyl Zine 09 is a various artists compilation released in 1991 on Panx Productions, carrying the catalog number PP012. It is the ninth entry in the label's Vinyl Zine series, a format that combined the participatory spirit of the zine medium with the physical reality of a vinyl record.

The release spans six tracks across two sides, falling within the genres of hardcore, punk, and rock. Side A opens with "We Fight Back," followed by "Idiota" and "Midlife Crisis." Side B carries "Self Destruct," "I Wanna Be Free," and "Everyday Demonstration." Track durations are not documented in available sources.

The Vinyl Zine series itself is notable as a concept. By packaging compilation records under a zine-style identity, Panx Productions positioned the releases within the do-it-yourself tradition that characterized much of the hardcore and punk underground during this period. Compilation formats of this kind were a practical means for independent labels to bring together multiple artists under a single release, giving exposure to acts that might not otherwise reach listeners beyond their immediate scenes. Whether Panx Vinyl Zine 09 served that function specifically, and which artists contributed tracks, is not confirmed by currently available information and should be verified before publication.

The catalog number PP012 places this release within a documented run of Panx Productions output, though the full scope of that catalog has not been confirmed here and warrants further research.
