Pop Fiction Act One (Vinyl 2 of 2)

Listening notes

Pop Fiction Act One (Vinyl 2 of 2) is a 2005 release on the Hot Banana label, catalogued as hot banana 1005. It is the second of two vinyl records comprising the Pop Fiction Act One compilation, a various artists collection operating within the electronic and house genres.

This disc carries three tracks across its two sides. The A-side is occupied entirely by "Soul Feeling," running five minutes and thirty-eight seconds. The B-side opens with "Electric Cat Theme" at six minutes and twenty-nine seconds, followed by "Theme From Furyo" at five minutes and fifty-seven seconds, bringing the record's total runtime to just under eighteen minutes.

As the second half of a split vinyl release, this record functions as a companion piece to its counterpart, with the two discs together constituting the full Pop Fiction Act One package. The track titles suggest a range of tonal approaches within the electronic and house framework — "Soul Feeling" implies a warmer register, while "Electric Cat Theme" and "Theme From Furyo" carry a more cinematic or character-driven quality in name, though the specifics of each track's construction are a matter for individual listeners to assess.

Hot Banana, identified by the catalog prefix carried across this release, serves as the issuing label. Beyond what the catalog number and format confirm, the broader context of the label's output or standing within the electronic music landscape at the time of this release falls outside what the available documentation supports.

Collectors and researchers sourcing the complete Pop Fiction Act One experience should note that this pressing represents only the second vinyl component of the release. Confirming ownership of both discs would be necessary before treating the compilation as complete.
